fast and accurate delivery estimates

Get ready to display fast and accurate delivery estimates powered by machine learning

Given the prominent role that shipping speed plays in shoppers' purchasing decisions, Simprosys has partnered with Google to help merchants using the Simprosys Google Shopping Feed app. Merchants can now display estimated delivery dates tailored to each product and customer’s postal code (if they opt-in). This can help reduce average delivery times shown to customers and improve conversion rates.

To provide better delivery estimates, merchants just need to link their Simprosys account to Google Merchant Center. Simprosys and Google use advanced machine learning and recent order tracking data (submitted by Simprosys) to create accurate delivery estimates.

Availability

The new delivery speed estimates are available for products shipped from and delivered to the United States. Cross-border shipping is not currently supported.

Free and Fast Shipping Annotations

Joining this program helps merchants get free and fast shipping annotations on Google more easily. Google identifies which products can ship to which regions quickly, saving merchants time and effort in setting up [regions] and [transit time labels] in Google Merchant Center. Google also adjusts its mapping for situations like holiday seasons or changes in the merchant’s shipping network.

To qualify for free and fast shipping labels, merchants just need to:

  1. Offer free shipping or free shipping above a certain amount.
  2. Enable web conversion tracking in their Google Ads account (learn more).
  3. Ensure delivery speed messaging on their website meets customer expectations (learn more).
  4. Fill out this form to start the approval process.

In simple terms, if a merchant has just one fulfillment location and offers only ground shipping, they can still deliver quickly to a large part of the country. We recommend merchants provide delivery estimates and meet the free and fast annotation requirements to boost conversions in areas they can deliver quickly.

Additional shipping annotations

Beyond free and fast annotations, Google has been rolling out several new shipping annotations that present delivery estimates to potential customers. For example, statements like Get it by Nov 5 or Free delivery by Mon, Dec 20.

Data shared with Google

Once a merchant has linked their account, Simprosys sends their recent order tracking data to Google that includes the following:

  • Items included and their quantity
  • Order handling time
  • Origin and destination postal codes
  • Parcel carrier, like FedEx, and service level, like Ground
  • Shipping cost paid by customer
  • Tracking number

No personal information, such as customer names, emails, or phone numbers, will be shared with Google during this process.

Prerequisites to show merchant-configured delivery speed

Google will not provide delivery speed estimates unless you are already configured to display shipping speed to customers. In other words, you need to confirm in Google Merchant Center that you have at least one of the following methods for displaying shipping speed set up and active:

  • Standard shipping service, with the optional fields order cutoff time, order cutoff time timezone, handling time, and fulfilled days (for handling time) provided (learn more)
  • [shipping] attribute configured to display speeds from the offer-level, i.e. with at least the following sub-attributes provided for national service: [country], [price], [min_handling_time], [max_handling_time], [min_transit_time], and [max_transit_time] (learn more)

Participating

The following are instructions for merchants that use Simprosys' Simprosys Google Shopping Feed app to get started with delivery estimates.

Upgrading the permissions granted to Simprosys Google Shopping Feed app

First, you need to update the permissions that Shopify grants to your Simprosys app to read and send order tracking data to Google. You can watch the complete video on the top.

For those already showing delivery speed - link to Simprosys via the data verification flow

If you already display delivery speeds, you can start using Google’s delivery estimates by linking Simprosys as your shipping data verification partner. Your shipping prices will stay the same, and Google will replace your delivery speeds with their estimates once sufficient data is collected.

For those not yet showing delivery speed -- create a new, Simprosys-linked shipping service

If you are not yet configured to show delivery speeds to customers, we suggest you to activate Simprosys for shipping data verification. You can watch the complete video on the top. Also, you need to set up account-level shipping settings in your Google Merchant Center with all the optional fields.
